A 'broken promise' for Teachers

The 2011 PESB Conference, formerly known as the Assessment Conference, will be held April 14-15 in Spokane. 

 2011 PESB Spring Institute Strands

Teacher Programs:

·         Focusing on the impact of data collection on program changes

·         Implementing the TPA, including a focus on academic language acquisition

·         Collecting and evaluating quality evidence for Standard V, including ELL and aesthetic reasoning

·         Developing effective strategies and materials for training mentor and cooperating teachers

·         Promising practices and effective design of year long clinically based internship models, including Alternative Routes

·         Pathways and partnerships designed to recruit and retain candidates from underrepresented populations in  teacher preparation programs

Washington is Second in New National Board Certified Teachers

WA Scholarships is a comprehensive scholarship program that supports teachers and child care providers who wish to enhance their education and professional skills in early childhood education by receiving formal training at community and technical colleges.  We support participants working towards their CDA (Child Development Associate), ECE Certificate and AA/AAS degree in Early Childhood Education.  We also offer CDA Assessment scholarships once students have completed the CDA course work.

Obama's goal: 10,000 new science, tech, engineering and math teachers

President Obama set a goal today of recruiting 10,000 teachers in science, technology, engineering and math, calling these subjects essential to competing in the 21st-century global economy. He expressed support for a longer school year in the interview tied to a series of NBC News programs about education. He said improvements will require more than money.

The president called education one of the country's most important economic issues as it competes with China, India and other growing nations that outperform the USA in the classroom.

Waiting for Superman

Today the documentary "Waiting for Superman" will be released in select theaters. The documentary will generate much discussion on school quality, public schools, charter schools, and teacher quality. There will be many opinions and thoughts generated from this movie (on both sides). Upon viewing the documentary, your students will probably bring discussions to your classroom.
