Save the date for the 3rd Annual Teaching Equity Conference on April 30th 2011!
The conference will be held at Highline Community College. The Teaching Equity Conference is for future teachers looking to increase their understanding of how to work in todays' diverse classrooms.

Obama's goal: 10,000 new science, tech, engineering and math teachers
President Obama set a goal today of recruiting 10,000 teachers in science, technology, engineering and math, calling these subjects essential to competing in the 21st-century global economy. He expressed support for a longer school year in the interview tied to a series of NBC News programs about education. He said improvements will require more than money.
The president called education one of the country's most important economic issues as it competes with China, India and other growing nations that outperform the USA in the classroom.

Today the documentary "Waiting for Superman" will be released in select theaters. The documentary will generate much discussion on school quality, public schools, charter schools, and teacher quality. There will be many opinions and thoughts generated from this movie (on both sides). Upon viewing the documentary, your students will probably bring discussions to your classroom.
